Winter goodness at home

School holidays...how sweet it is to set our own routine and enjoy all the good things winter has to offer, such as toasting marshmallows.

Harvesting home grown broccoli.

Pruning my young quince trees.

Going for an extra long horse ride.

Enjoying a special family morning tea to celebrate George turning three.

Watching the sun set through the bare branches of our mulberry tree.

Indulging in delicious baguettes, coffee and baby cinos at our favourite local cafe.

What are you up to at the moment?
Do you love winter?  I am learning to appreciate it more these days.
Happy Sunday friends.

  1. I love winter Jane. Marshmallows are a favorite here too and we like to use the pizza oven in winter. My children say this means dessert pizzas and sparklers!
Evenings by the fire with a ball of wool are pretty good too....

  4. Winter is my favourite season. It's our first living inland and its so cool and with so many frosts. But I love rugging up to go out and about and then snuggling up in front of the heater.

    1. Hi Zara, one thing good about the frosts is that it usually means a beautiful sunny day will follow, in our part of the world anyway :)

  5. What a glorious time you're having, Jane! It's so lovely when the kids are little - I really miss those days. It's great that you're taking the time to absorb this time into your soul, if that makes sense. :)

Your quince trees got a serious pruning! And our broccoli is nowhere near ready, but fingers crossed it won't be long. Wish you were closer and I'd trade you for some cos lettuce - we're overrun with them at the moment.. ;-)

    Happy birthday, George!

  6. I remember when you were pregnant with your girl...you used to come into the bookshop. Amazing that she's big enough to rid a horse (I feel old now...LOL).

  8. Happy Days. Love the photos. It's the middle of summer here (allegedly) so I enjoy reading about your winter, though I suspect it's nearly as cold here today as it is in Australia.

  9. i do love winter though in tassie it often feels like winter goes on for 9 months of the year - so i start to really yearn for the warmer months! but winter allows you to dress up more (hats and gloves and scarves and coats) and eat more (pudding and pudding and puddign and pudding). and seeing snow on mt wellingotn - as someone who has "only" lived in tassie for 15 years - still gives me a thrill.
